FW 2016

For this collection I started with creating a concept from the realm of Develop & Decay. Intrigued by the beauty in decay I chose Chernobyl as my main inspiration. The town surrounding Chernobyl has been left abandoned for years and the remains of the lives that once resided there are beautifully haunting. Over time nature will automatically begin to reclaim what once was, but as a side effect of the radioactive explosion the decay was anything but ordinary. Both the interior and exterior of buildings and homes were left warped and —— due to the reaction with the radioactive waste. I found beauty in these details using it as inspiration for both the silhouettes and textures I designed in this collection.

The Victorian Era is one of my favorite eras to pull inspiration from because of how detailed and purposeful clothing was at that time. I always try to figure out how to connect it with whatever concept I am working on. In this collection you see the high necklines pushed to an extreme. I also experimented with the idea of how restrictive and uncomfortable clothing could be.
